Rental Agreement Policy:

You (our valued Customer) may select to enter into a rental agreement with the Bookstore to rent a copy of a select title. The rental agreement is only effective for the current semester.

PER TERMS OF THE AGREEMENT:

  1. Rental textbooks are the property of the JCCC bookstore, and it is your responsibility to check in your rental books to the JCCC bookstore in acceptable rental condition. Damaged (e.g., liquid damage, torn/missing pages, staining, etc.) or otherwise nonrentable books will not be accepted.
  2. It is your responsibility to inspect the condition of your books before renting them. If you notice any pre-existing damage, you have 7 days from your initial rental date to examine the book for excessive highlighting, underlining, marking, and any liquid damage or staining. If not reported, you will be deemed to have accepted the book in its current condition.
  3. Rental textbooks are due back to the JCCC bookstore by the posted due date for the current term. If rental books are not checked in by the posted due date, your student account will be charged the replacement book price the next business day.
  4. Identifying stickers or labels on the books must remain intact and not be removed.
  5. The rental fee is only refundable if the book is returned by the dates outlined in the refund policy and is in acceptable condition.
    • For full semester courses (15 weeks): 30 days from the start date of class.
    • For short-term courses (Under 15 Weeks): Two weeks (14 days) from the start date of class.
  6. JCCC or its designated collection agency may use an automated calling system and pre-recorded voice or text messages to contact you by phone regarding your rental textbooks to any current or future phone number you have provided to the college, including any number to a cellular phone or wireless device.
