General Merchandise Return Information

You have 10 days from the purchase date to receive a refund for Non-Text Merchandise. Exception: Test prep materials (i.e. TEAS, SAT, GED, SparkNotes, etc.) are non-refundable. Purchases that were charged to a credit card will be credited to the same card. Returns and exchanges purchased by check will be refunded by check within 30 days of the return. Purchases made with Financial Aid will be credited back to Financial Aid. A picture ID is required for credit card & check transactions; to access financial aid, and for third-party vouchers, student loans, retail buyback and wholesale buyback.

New Textbooks and Study Guide Return Policy

Effective October 2017

Full Semester Courses: For full semester courses, the return policy of the bookstore is that a full 100% refund will be granted for 30 days from the start of class with proof of purchase/receipt and if the books are in original purchase condition (unopened packaging and unused codes). 

Short Term Use Titles and Late Start Classes: (e.g. 2nd 8 week, final 4 week courses or Western Civilization, theatre dramas, and English readers used throughout a course) are non-refundable unless class was dropped, verification is required.


Textbook Exchange Policy: in the case of an exchange, all exchanges of course materials must be completed by the College’s posted Withdrawal date for a course each semester. Same conditions apply, the book must be in original purchase condition in order for the exchange to be completed.

Textbook packages with multiple pieces must have all pieces returned. Textbooks must be in condition purchased. Study guides must be unused and clean. Used textbooks are subject to continued wear & tear each term, and may not be refunded before or bought back at buyback if condition at that time does not meet bookstore standards.

  1. Rental Textbooks are due back to the JCCC Bookstore by the posted due date for the current term. For Spring 2019, the due date is May 25, 2019. If books are not returned by the deadline students will be charged for a new book.

  2. You may be given an extension to return late rentals for a $25.00 non-refundable fee. The $25.00 is due at time of late rental check in. The Bookstore reserves the right to work with you on late returned rentals. Fees will apply.

  3. It is your responsibility to use the book and return it to the JCCC Bookstore in acceptable rental condition.

  4. Identifying stickers/labels on the books must remain intact and must not be removed.

  5. The rental fee is refundable only if the book is returned by the posted refund date for the current term.

  6. At the end of the term, the book must be checked back into the JCCC Bookstore by the check-in date that appears on the front cover of the rental book

Healthcare Products

Healthcare products such as goggles and medical products must be unopened and in their original packaging. Clothing such as lab coats and t-shirts must not be worn or washed. Cosmetology, Esthetician and Dental Hygiene kits may not be returned. Resupplies for kits may be purchased at the Bookstore, please call (913) 469-8500 x3728 for more information.


Articles of clothing must not be worn, washed or stained in any way. The clothing must be in new condition and tags should not be removed.


All computer, printer and gaming sales are final. Software and user guides must be in the original shrink-wrap and returned within 10 days of the purchase date with register receipt (except select licensed software - no returns on licensed software). Personal checks are not accepted for computer purchases.

Software and Hardware

Prior to requesting a return on a purchased product, please consult the technical support division of the product manufacturer. Support contact information will be included in the product's box and basic support is usually available at no or little cost.

Licensed Software

Licensed software is sold "as is" with no service, support or other implied warranty. Purchaser is responsible for ensuring system compatibility and configuration prior to use. Licensed software has a limited number of installation attempts - Purchaser is responsible for mis-installations. No refunds on licensed software.
